jewelry, paintings, and oddities by Jaym Gates

Recent Work - Jewelry

I’m Jaym, an artist in Seattle, Washington. I’m a professional writer, editor, and game designer…but all that brain work means I need some time to decompress. Creating things with my hands has always been my favorite stress relief, and I’ve been making and selling art and jewelry for over fifteen years now.

I create jewelry, paintings, drawings, watercolors, and resin work, but I’m a magpie artist and love experimenting with everything from painting model horses to clay work.

I take inspiration for my jewelry from nature - the colors and shapes of flowers, the textures of canyons, and the feeling of sunny days. I love the feel of glass, stone, wood, and pearls, augmenting these with vintage components.

My preferred painting medium is spray paint, where I indulge in my love of bright colors and dynamic movement. I love the speed and certainty it requires - there isn’t any time for doubt or confusion.

I’m carefully supervised by two rescued German Shepherd mixes, and a recently retired champion harness racing horse. I recently moved to a new home where I have a proper workshop and studio, and can’t wait to see what the next chapter brings me.
